Transformer controls are isolation transformers that are designed to provide secondary voltage stability during a short period called the inrush.  Inrush is an overload condition that happens generally at start-up of the transformer.  Transformer controls are sometimes referred to as control transformers, industrial control transformers, control power transformers and also machine tool transformers.  TEMCo offers a wide variety of brands and makes of  transformer control transformers that will meet your specific application needs.

What Is The Load Effect On A Transformer Control?

The transformer control transformer is designed to provide a rated output voltage at full VA.  When the load decreases, the output voltage will go up.  Increases in a load will result in having lower output voltages.  The smaller the VA size of the transformer control, the greater the difference is between no load and full load voltage.

Why Use A Transformer Control?

A transformer control transformer supplies voltage to a load that requires a significant amount of more current when it initially starts to operate rather than under normal steady operation of the transformer control transformer.  A transformer control transformer will provide secondary voltage stability under the short period of specific current overload which is called inrush.

Will A Transformer Control Regulate Output Voltage?

No, transformer control transformers are not voltage regulating.  Voltage changes are a function of the transformer's turn ratio so therefore, any variations in input voltage will be proportionately reflected to the output.
