What Is An Electronic Transformer?

An electronic transformer is basically a device that is used to transfer alternating current or voltage from one circuit to another.  It is done by electromagnetic induction.  The simplest type of an electronic transformer will consist of two coils of wire.  These two coils of wire will be insulated from one another.  When there is a change in the current of one coil, which is the primary coil, it will produce a change in the voltage of the other coil which is the secondary coil.  The coils on the electronic transformer are usually wound on a core that is made of high magnetic permeability material.  This will intensify the magnetic field that is induced by the current in the primary coil.  This increases the efficiency of the performance of the electronic transformer.  Note the number of windings or turns on an electronic transformer primary coil to the number of turns in the secondary coil as this important factor will determine what the magnitude of the voltage is.  Using an iron core will produce the most efficient magnetic coil.  As soon as the voltage conversion takes place, the energy is then being transferred to a load center and then the electrical process starts.
